Green Lantern TV Series To Focus On Three Lanterns — Possibly In A Witcher Format

As teased in Tuesday’s “Crisis on Infinite Earths” conclusion, the Green Lantern Corps is coming to television. They will also have their own universe to tool around in as the show will land on HBO Max, WarnerMedia’s upcoming streaming service. Since first announcing the project a few months ago, HBO Max and Berlanti Productions have been quite mum about its development. But at the Television Critics Association winter press tour, HBO Max Chief Content Officer Kevin Reilly offered Slashfilm some details of producer Greg Berlanti’s plan for the series.
“[It] is going to span several decades and focus on the origin story of two major Green Lanterns on Earth,” Aubrey said, “while going into the story in space of a Green Lantern favorite character of Sinestro.”
The character is, of course, key to any ongoing Green Lantern television show and we suspect the series will employ some of the flashback and flashforward techniques used on Arrow and The Witcher the breach the gap between Sinestro’s days as a rookie Green Lantern and the tale of the two human GLs set to anchor the show.
Of course, it remains to be seen who will be the human GLs. Just about any combination of Hal Jordan, John Stewart, Guy Gardner, Simon Baz, or Jessica Cruz would be interesting. Since we’re on began reading the comic in the 1990s, though, John and Guy would be our picks.
In the meantime, feel free to draw up your fantasy cast for the series, which will likely debut sometime in 2022.
