‘The Fabulous Killjoys’ Gets New Hardcover Treatment From Dark Horse

The Umbrella Academy push has extended to writer Gerard Way’s other work as Dark Horse Comics has announced an over-sized hardcover collection of The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys: California. This library edition collects the 2014 series and the short story “Dead Satellites” along with an expanded sketchbook section. It’s a direct tie-in to the My Chemical Romance album Danger Days. It’s written by Gerard Way and Shaun Simon, illustrated by Becky Cloonan, colored by Dan Jackson, and lettered by Nate Piekos.

I am beyond excited that my co-creators and I get to release this gorgeous edition of The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys: California. Dark Horse really gives their hardcover presentations a lot of thought, and put a ton of creativity into the design. We also get a new cover by Becky Cloonan, and her work is always spectacular, as it is inside the pages of this volume.
Some time ago, the Killjoys fought against the tyrannical megacorporation Better Living Industries. All but the mysterious Girl lost their lives. Now the followers of the original Killjoys languish in the Desert while BLI systematically strips citizens of their individuality. With the fight for freedom fading, Girl must take up the mantle and bring down the fearsome BLI.
