Todd McFarlane Launches First Ever Masterworks Spawn Kickstarter

by Gary Catig

The first Spawn action figure came out 25 years ago. It garnered critical acclaim and was innovative in how it brought detail and art to collectible toys. Now, the character’s creator, Todd McFarlane, is partnering with Kickstarter to deliver an updated version with the Original Spawn Action Figure and Comic Remastered (2020).
It will be seven inches tall with a huge folding cape and weapon. The articulation will be double the original figure and the included comic cover will be remastered by McFarlane himself. The figure will come in a collector box with a slip cover to preserve the condition of the figure, comic and packaging. The blister packaging will mimic the original 1995 design for those feeling nostalgic though upgrades will be all across the final product.

In addition, a new resealable shell will be used so both the figure and comic can be taken out for display purposes, but allows them to be returned into the packaging without spoiling its integrity. There is also an option to include an autographed McFarlane nameplate. Those who purchase this option will receive a bonus weapon: a reimagining, hyper detailed updated version of the wooden plank from the original.
Choose from four levels offered in the campaign: A classic costume version, a modern costume version with new head, an artist proof version (‘black & white’) and a 3-pack bundle which includes all versions. The last two options will receive a new head sculpt. The first three options can come with or without the autographed nameplate while the last one will only come with the autograph. Each single figure will come with a never before seen cover remastered by McFarlane. The backing levels range from $40 – $160.
