Another Covid-19 Fundraiser: ‘Inside Art Digital Anthology’ To Support Female Retailers
by Olly MacNamee
We’ve already had various initiatives by comic book publishers, free online comics to read, as well as not one but two online auctions to benefit struggling comic book retailers and now we have another to report on. This time trying to help out female and non-binary retailers specifically.
Female Comic Book Retailer Fund is a new organisation set up to help ailing female store owners with new comic Inside Art Digital Anthology as well as a further online auction and a specially designed fabric, all aiming to raise money for these folks. All overseen by Jen King, herself a retailer and one of the newest members to be welcomed onto the board of the Comic Book Legal Defence Fund. with help from editor Shelly Bond, whom King praises for her efficiency:
I’m super proud of what Shelly Bond and the seven editors have achieved in such a short time, in assembling the talented creators that are giving from their heart and soul for this project. I am thrilled to be able to use my skills to help turn these unique donated items into money to help female comic store owners pay the bills during this difficult time.
Those working on this new anthology include Gail Simone, Kelly Sue DeConnick, Stephanie Hans, Lilah Sturges, Janet K. Lee, and Trina Robbins, Myriam Bloom, Jessi Jordan, Amanda Gonzalez, Tini Howard, Chynna Clugston Flores, Magdalene Visaggio, Margaux Saltel, and Vita Ayala among others.Oh, and I;m told there will be cats. Lots of cats!
What’s more, readers of all ages can “pay what they want” for over 200 pages on Gumroad with a suggested donation of $9.99. The digital anthology will be available in June.
