‘To The Max’: HBO Max And DC Comics Join Forces For New Free Promotional Comics On ComiXology Now
by Olly MacNamee

If you visit comiXology today to check out any new releases, you may be surprised to find what seems like an all-new comic book series, featuring all-new superheroes waiting there for you which you can download for free. It would seem that HBO Max and DC Comics have put out the first three slim comic books, To the Max, from today, Monday 15th June, as part of a larger campaign to promote the new HBO Max streaming service that launched the other week.

A quick glance through these thin reads reveals that over the course of these first three issue readers will be introduced to three new superheroes as they come together to fight crime, and promote brand awareness. But, other than the HBO Max advert at the end of each of these three books, the shared ‘Max’ logo on ether chest and the color scheme of the trio’s costumes, there is no obvious tie-in with HBO Max and its content.
A clunky, unimaginative all-ages read with more to come if the group shot at the end of the first issue is anything to go by. If you’ve ever picked up these type of comics in the past you’ll know what to expect. Not much. But then, you’re kids may enjoy these simplistic stories. With covers from Jim Lee, Jorge Jimenez and Amanda Conner.

These first three are issue introduce you to family man Hector, Brian and Olivia.. as they.. er… maximise their potential.
Check out all three titles here now.
