Bandai-Namco, Capcom, and others Announce Japan Fighting Game Publishers Round Table for August 1st

by Sage Ashford

First confirmed by Gematsu, it appears that all of the major Japanese game publishers are setting down for a round table discussion coming on August 1st, 9AM JST.  This round table will see multiple developers all appearing together to discuss fighting games and eSports as well.  The developers present will include:

  • Arc System Works
    • Daisuke Ishiwatari (Guilty Gear series general director)
    • Kazuto Sekine (general battle director)
  • Arika
    • Akira Nishitani (Fighting EX Layer producer)
  • Bandai Namco
    • Katsuhiro Harada (Tekken series chief producer)
    • Motohiro Okubo (Soulcalibur VI producer)
  • Capcom
    • Shuuhei Matsumoto (Street Fighter V producer)
    • Takayuki Nakayama (Street Fighter V director)
  • Koei Tecmo
    • Yohei Shimbori (Dead or Alive 6 producer)
  • SNK
    • Yasuyuki Oda (SNK producer)
    • Nobuyuki Kuroki (SNK director)

An assumption is that there will be new announcements present, and for some of the developers involved this is likely true.  But just as likely, this round table will feature discussion on the ongoing discussion regarding “rollback” netcode, a method of handling online gameplay that fans have been asking for in fighting games for sometime now.   What we do know is this will be streamed on literally every platform possible, from Bandai-Namco’s Twitch stream to YouTube channels including Tekken, Dead or Alive, and more.
