NerdFest Comes To Quad Cities In 2021

by James Ferguson

The Quad Cities are getting a new festival for all things nerd, geek, and fandom. August 2021 will bring NerdFest to the RiverCenter in downtown Davenport, Iowa. Many events are already in place including trading card game tournaments for Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Magic, and Dragon Ball Super, esports tournaments, casual video games, Dungeons & Dragons, and other tabletop gaming platforms. The event will run from August 27th – 29th.

NerdFest Co-founder Kevin Hurt says, “On any given day you can find Mike Byers [co-founder], myself, and our team serving the Nerd community that we love.  Whether we are at Nerd HQ or out in our beautiful community, our passion is to strengthen the Quad Cities and celebrate the nerdy lifestyle we cherish.  NerdFest is the perfect opportunity to join with your fellow nerds to celebrate your ‘Nerdom’.  The Quad Cities is the best place for this event, and we are excited for the opportunity to host it next summer!”
Saturday will feature a red carpet cosplay contest while Sunday has a family-oriented cosplay parade. There will also be panels and workshops. New items will be added to the NerdFest schedule. You can find more information at the official website and Facebook page. Tickets can be purchased on the NerdFest site. From now through October 31st, fans can get a three-day pass for $60 and VIP passes are $100. Beginning on November 1st, those rates go up to $75 and $120 respectively. The VIP passes include exclusive access, early entry, and some NerdSwag.
