‘New Mutants #14’ Welcomes New Creative Team In “X Of Swords “Aftermath
by James Ferguson
“X of Swords” is just starting up, however Marvel Comics is already looking to its aftermath. The publisher has announced the new creative team of writer Vita Ayala and artist Rod Reis will be taking over New Mutants beginning with December’s issue #14.
“The New Mutants (as a group of characters, and as a book) are the center of the Venn diagram of things that I love, and I am honored and stoked as all get out to be able to follow Jonathan [Hickman] and Ed [Brisson] on the title,” Ayala said. “The New Mutants are perfectly situated to start digging into some of the weird and dangerous stuff that lies just under the surface of the new Krakoan nation, to go poking at things that bite back, so expect them to be getting into all sorts of trouble… *ominous laugh*”
New Mutants #14 has the younger generation of X-Men cutting loose in the Wild Hunt. They go big by blowing things up and combining their powers to see who get crowned king of the mountain. After the events of “X of Swords” a mysterious and powerful enemy has taken root in Krakoa. It’s all too familiar to the New Mutants and it will take generations of X-Men to stop it.
I love everything about this. Vita is the perfect person to helm this book, not to mention the younger generation of mutants, as will also be the case in Children of the Atom. I cannot wait to see what they do with this book. Reis is a nice addition too. Look at that Warlock!
New Mutants #14 is due out in December 2020.
