It’s not uncommon for sports-based video games to partner with their real-life counterparts. The Madden series coordinates some of its eSports events with the NFL while FIFA collaborates with the different soccer leagues throughout the world, including MLS in the United States. Now, Tennis Clash, the world’s most popular tennis mobile game, has teamed up with The Laver Cup to provide fans a new innovative experience.
From September 24 – 27, players can participate in a virtual version of the Boston tennis tournament and see what it’s like to compete on the court. The online competition is divided into four different divisions based on experience level: Beginner, Rookie, Junior, and Challenger. The level is determined by in-game stats prior to the event.
Winners in each division will win a pair of tickets to next year’s Laver Cup. The runner-ups will receive a limited-edition racket signed by Roger Federer. Third place finishers will win commemorative Laver Cup merchandise.
The special event will have characters outfitted in characteristic blue or red attire representing the colors of Team Europe and Team World, respectively, and will feature 10-point match tie-breaks on a black court; all of which are signature components of the Laver Cup.
Complete details of the event can be found on developer Wildlife Studios’ website. Tennis Clash can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play.
