Superman & Lois continues to playfully adopt Silver Age names.
The Wrap reports actor Stacey Farber will join the series on a recurring basis as Leslie Larr. Described as “the right hand to one of the most influential people on the planet” who has gone “from a young, idealistic dreamer to a hardened, world-worn dream killer,” the site suggests she may be based on Lesla-Larr.
The obscure Supergirl villain was created by Jerry Siegel and Jim Mooney in 1961 as a jealous Kryptonian from the Bottle City of Kandor. In her debut, she stole Supergirl’s powers while imprisoning Kara in the city itself. She continued to make appearances here and there through the 60s and 70s.
Plumbing the Superman archives for obscure names seems to be a specialty for Superman & Lois. Last week, Sofia Hasmik signed on as reporter Christy Beppo. The character’s last name is an obvious homage to Beppo the Superchimp. It will be interesting to see how many more Silver Age names the show can appropriate before it hits the air next year. We’d love to see the program show some love to the late Bronze Age and give Bibbo Bibbowski a spot in the recurring cast. Or, if we want to stay in the Silver Age, isn’t it time Lori Lemaris made her television debut?
