Archie Comics Teams With Rob Liefeld For New ‘Mighty Crusaders’ Series

Archie Comics is relaunching its super hero line with Mighty Crusaders from none other than Rob Liefeld. This is a pairing I did not see coming in my 2020 bingo card. The four-issue mini-series is slated to begin next year, reimagining Archie’s library of heroes like the Shield, the Comet, the Jaguar, and Fly-Girl.
This is the first step towards the reintroduction of Archie’s super hero characters and expanding beyond Archie, Betty & Veronica, and Sabrina. There were a handful of series with some of these characters a few years ago, some of which fell under the Dark Circle imprint. This is an interesting move.
“When I learned that Rob — a creator of the highest caliber with a long, sterling track record — was a fan of our characters, I knew we had to act fast,” said Archie Comics CEO/Publisher Jon Goldwater. “Along with Marvel and DC, Archie Comics is one of the few media companies with an entire catalogue of superheroes dating back to the earliest days of comics, that are beloved and bursting with potential. I knew right away that Rob Liefeld was the person to make them shine again. This series will remind people why these characters matter, and put them in the A-list, where they have always belonged.”
