Graduation Is Nigh In The Preview For Next Week’s ‘Riverdale’

by Rachel Bellwoar

The timing may be later than the show originally intended (season four was supposed to end with graduation day), but there’s no going back now. Riverdale is about to enter its post-high school years. Starting with next week’s graduation episode, Archie (KJ Apa), Betty (Lili Reinhart), Jughead (Cole Sprouse), and Veronica (Camila Mendes) will no longer be classmates, but will they be friends? At least we can rest easier knowing Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) will get her crimson graduation gown:

For anyone else who’s been ready for Betty and Jughead to wrap up their investigations and Jughead’s Stonewall days to be forgotten, ‘The Preppy Murders’ seemed primed to do the opposite. The show came through, though, and in the end last night’s episode was an hour of revelations (and not half as Archie-centric as last week’s promo suggested).

Jellybean (Trinity Likins) being the Auteur was a surprise, but Riverdale has waited a long time to expose Charles (Wyatt Nash) [since last season’s Halloween episode at least] and good on Hart Denton for agreeing to make a quick cameo as Chic.

Veronica and Hermosa (Mishel Prada) have officially taken over Hiram’s business, but is that a business Veronica wants to be mixed up in? Hermosa already has it set-up that she’ll be in charge while Veronica’s in college but when did she become someone Veronica could trust? At least Hiram (Mark Consuelos) was the devil she knew. Hermosa could be anyone.

And how about Cheryl’s mother (Nathalie Boltt) low key killing almost every member of the Blossom family tree, and Cheryl knowing in advance? Will Toni (Vanessa Morgan) be ok with being used for an alibi?

Riverdale airs Wednesdays on The CW.
