‘King’s Ransom’ Wraps Up With ‘Giant-Size Amazing Spider-Man’ In May

by James Ferguson

King’s Ransom” hasn’t even started yet in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man, but Marvel is already pointing to the rafters for its finale. The publisher has announced the storyline will wrap up in May with Giant-Size Amazing Spider-Man: King’s Ransom #1 from writer Nick Spencer and artist Rogê Antônio, featuring a cover by Mark Bagley.

“If you thought 2020 held some huge Spidey surprises (the return of the Green Goblin, the reveal of Kindred as Harry Osborn, the Sin-Eater’s reign of terror), you ain’t seen nothing yet,” Editor Nick Lowe promises. “Nick Spencer is telling the biggest stories in Amazing Spider-Man history and they can’t fit in a normal comic, so we’re GIANT-SIZING, starting with the cacophonous climax of ‘King’s Ransom!’

King’s Ransom” kicks off next month in Amazing Spider-Man #61. We’ll learn Kingpin’s goal and how it violates all natural law, along with the years’ long enmity between Tombstone and Robbie Robertson and what’s next for Boomerang, not to mention a change to Spider-Man’s status quo. I’m a little jaded, so I’ll believe that last one when I see it.

Giant-Size Amazing Spider-Man: King’s Ransom #1 is set for release on May 12th, 2021.
