Cisco And Chester Go Back To The 1990s In A Preview Of Next Week’s ‘The Flash’

With the Speed Force taking a physical from, the growing battle against the other Forces is starting to heat up. But before we get into the more serious aspects of that problem, let’s see what happens when Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes) and Chester P. Runk (Brandon McKnight) get blasted back to the 1990s, when video stores reigned supreme, everyone wore Hypercolor T-shirts, and none of the Team Flash tech existed. Will they bet able to get back to the future in time to deal with whatever crisis sent them through time? And will they be able to do it without quoting Back to the Future or a Bill and Ted movie?
Meanwhile, we’re not too sure about this clash of cosmic forces just yet. Although a reasonable threat this week, Psyche (Ennis Esmer) doesn’t have the moment-to-momentum impact of a Zoom or Thawne. Fuerza, meanwhile, visually resembles She-Hulk a little too much and no amount of Cisco lampshading that will make it work. Her comic book design is much more successful.
Of course, it’s still the early pages of what showrunner Eric Wallce calls “Graphic Novel #3” and developments could make these Forces and their avatars far more interesting. In the meantime, though, we appreciate the added screentime for Cecile (Danielle Nicolet), who is one of the show’s secret weapons, and the new development for Caitlin and Frost (both Danielle Panabaker). At this point in the series, those changes are more thrilling that whatever villain The Flash (Grant Gustin) might face. But again, we’d be happy to eat those words as the story heats up in the weeks ahead.
