People might most recognize De’Aaron Fox as a talented NBA point guard for the Sacramento Kings. Now he’s trying to break into another industry; comics. Fox, along with his agency, Family First Sports Firm, are developing the comic, Swipa the Fox.
The project is a joint venture with publisher, eigoMANGA. It will be written by Natasha McGough Clarke and Nnamdi Ikeakor with art produced by Harrier Studio.
The story follows Fox as he partners with a video game company to create his first basketball game. While wearing an experimental motion capture suit and a VR head set, he suffers a freak accident that transports Fox into the game and he must utilize his skills and wits to play his way out and back into the real world. At the same time, his video game avatar has entered our world and assumes his identity living a luxurious lifestyle without Fox’s closest friends and family noticing.
Swipa The Fox aims to delve into a fascinating story that combines basketball and artificial intelligence. Through many twists and turns, the reader goes on a journey with De’Aaron and follows his efforts to return back to the real world and in turn, send his video game counterpart back into the digital game. This is a story of strength, warring wits, self-discovery, and the battle between artificial intelligence and the human spirit.
Keep an eye out for the first issue, which will arrive this summer.
