New ‘What If …?’ Trailer Teases Endless Possibilities And An August 11 Debut

Disney has released a new trailer for the upcoming What If …? animated series which offers a few glimpses of the dazzling Marvel Multiverse. In one reality, Erik Killmonger saves Tony Stark from the Ten Rings, evading the creation of Iron Man. In another, T’Challa is kidnapped by Yondu at a young age and becomes a Ravager. In yet another, the Guardians of the Galaxy take the place of the Avengers while in still another, Peggy Carter takes the super soldier serum. Utilizing the premise of one of Marvel Comics most beloved titles, imaginary stories become branches of the Multiverse that, frankly, we’re excited to see.
But is it canon? The series seems poised to offer viewers the first taste of the Multiverse before it becomes important in films like Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. So these stories presumably happen somewhere in the latticework of Marvel’s reality. Who knows, maybe we’ll see live action Marvel Zombies before too long.
What If …? debuts August 11th on Disney+.
