The CW Plans ‘Armageddon’ Crossover For Arrowverse Heroes

by Erik Amaya

It seems “Armageddon” will follow “Crisis” in the Arrowverse.

EW reports November’s five-part special event on The Flash will serve as the first crossover following “Crisis on Infinite Earths’ in 2019. According to the official story description, “A powerful alien threat arrives on Earth under mysterious circumstances and Barry (Grant Gustin), Iris (Candice Patton), and the rest of Team Flash are pushed to their limits in a desperate battle to save the world. But with time running out, and the fate of humanity at stake, Flash and his companions will also need to enlist the help of some old friends if the forces of good are to prevail.”

Those old friends include Black Lighting (Cress Williams), Alex Danvers (Chyler Liegh), Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh), and Ryan Choi (Osric Chau). Also along for the adventure: Batwoman (Javicia Leslie), who joins the group for the first time, and Mia Queen (Katharine McNamara), the grown up daughter of Felicity Smoak and Oliver Queen who resides in 2040. The adventure will also feature a re-teaming of the Reverse-Flash (Tom Cavanagh) and Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough).

“There are some truly epic moments and huge surprises that await our fans,” Flash showrunner Eric Wallace told EW. “And we’re doing them on a scale that’s bigger and bolder than our traditional Flash episodes. So yes, ‘Armageddon’ is a lot more than just another graphic novel storyline. It’s going to be a true event for Flash and Arrowverse fans, old and new. Honestly, I can’t wait for audiences to see what we’ve got planned.”

The name is evocative, of course, of Armageddon 2001, the 1991 summer crossover which saw Waverider arriving from the future to learn the identity of Monarch, a hero in the 1990s who became a masked worldwide tyrant a decade later. The story is infamous in comic book circles because its shocking conclusion leaked to the press and DC scrambled to restructure the ending. It seems The Flash‘s ‘Armageddon’ will be quite different, but perhaps the Waverider will be involved in collecting Mia from 2040. Also, we hope the kidnapping of her brother gets resolved.

The Flash returns November 16th on The CW.
