‘Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ Gets An Extended Trailer
by Sage Ashford
When Firaxis and Marvel announced Marvel’s Midnight Suns at the Gamescom Opening Night Live showcase, they confirmed a look at the gameplay would be coming on September 1st. Now, it’s finally here, with IGN getting to do a deep-dive with the developers as well.
The gameplay trailer introduces us to the Hunter, the main character of Midnight Suns and the character players will be controlling outside of combat. The Hunter is completely customizable, and will spend time getting to know all the other Marvel characters in the Abbey, a secret location where all the heroes and the players will hang out. Exploring the Abbey the player can have conversations with the other heroes and unlock new abilities for the characters. Smartly, there are also plenty of different costumes for each character to unlock, allowing the player to customize their team however they wish.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns uses turn-based combat, but also relies on each character having a customizable deck of cards that allows them to do special moves in battle. Though the deck can be powered up with special cards, during combat the hero is given a random selection of cards that will decide their options for a turn. Unlike Marvel’s Avengers, Midnight Suns looks to include a number of iconic locations from the Marvel Universe, from Avengers Tower to the Sanctum Sanctorum.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns will be available for consoles and PC in March 2022.
