‘Injustice’ Comes To Home Video In October
by Erik Amaya
The DC-inspired fighting game Injustice: Gods Among Us is remembered both for its fun gameplay and stunning story — one of the most successful “Superman goes bad” tales ever devised. And that conceit forms the core of the upcoming DC Universe Animated Film Injustice, due out October 19th.
On an alternate Earth, the Joker has duped Superman into killing Lois Lane, sending the Man of Steel on a deadly rampage. Unhinged, Superman decides to take control of the Earth for humanity’s own good. Determined to stop him, Batman creates a team of like-minded, freedom-fighting heroes. But when the superheroes go to war, can the world survive? The cast includes Justin Hartley and Anson Mount as Superman and Batman, respectively, and a stunning array of voice talent including Janet Varney as Wonder Woman, Brandon Micheal Hall as Cyborg, Kevin Pollak as the Joker and Jonathan Kent, Anika Noni Rose as Catwoman, Gillian Jacobs as Harley Quinn, Fred Tatasciore as Captain Atom, and many, many more.
Of course, no DC Universe animated movie would be complete without special features. The 4K, Blu-ray, and digital releases all come with a documentary featurette, Adventures in Storytelling – Injustice: Crisis and Conflict, flashback content from The Death of Superman and Reign of the Supermen, and the two-part Justice League tale, “Injustice For All,” which also posited a world in which Superman broke bad.
Directed by Matt Peters from a screenplay by Ernie Altbacker, Injustice arrives on disc and digital formats October 19th.
