Kiernan Shipka To Make A ‘Riverdale’ Entrance As Sabrina

by Erik Amaya

Although Chilling Adventures of Sabrina ended last year, there is still room for the teenage witch in Riverdale.

EW reports Sabrina star Kiernan Shipka will appear in the fourth episode of The CW program’s upcoming sixth season. “We’ve been talking about having Sabrina visit Riverdale since Season 1, so it’s thrilling that this is finally happening, as part of our Rivervale special event,” showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa told the site. “It’s also perfect that she shows up to help Cheryl Blossom during her hour of greatest need. Everyone on set lost their minds — I think fans will, too. It’s really fun and special.” Cheryl’s problem: making a spell work, which suggests the special event planned for the first five episode of the new season are more genre-bending than the typical Riverdale story.

Also, fans of the Sabrina series may be surprised to see her active in Riverdale, many years after her own story concluded.

Of course, that ambiguity, and her guest appearance, brings things full circle as Sabrina was originally developed as a CW show before moving to Netflix. Several episodes in Riverdale‘s second season even established nearby Greendale (Sabrina’s hometown) as a place where spooky things occur. But once the series moved to streaming, the connections between the two shows became more tenuous (although they did occur), allowing for Sabrina’s situation to be different in Riverdale‘s world.

As we reported earlier today, Riverdale will be moving to Tuesdays when it returns on November 16th.
