After over a year since the game’s release, Crystal Dynamics and Square-Enix have finally found pictures of Spider-Man. The Marvel’s Avengers version of Spider-Man has been angrily discussed amongst fans everywhere since Sony confirmed the character would be exclusive to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 before the game even launched. There’s even been no shortage of fans who were absolutely positive that thanks to the game’s “horrendous launch” (in which the game remained one of the best selling games of the last 12 months for 10 months or so), the only reason they were still developing content was to fulfil their obligations to Sony.
That’s actually seeming less and less likely, with the seeming success of the MCU skins and War for Wakanda for the title. In fact, Spider-Man is coming alongside an update that changes not only how the game’s gear system works, simplifying it for the sake of making it easier to play, but also with a brand new multiplayer raid that continues the game’s ongoing story line.
During their weekly Friday Twitch stream, Crystal Dynamics gave a glimpse at multiple costumes for Spider-Man, including a classic outfit, two different Spider-Armors, and his Spider-Man Noir outfit. There’s still no gameplay as of yet, as they’re waiting until November 29th, the day before the game’s next major update, to show that off. However, we do know that the character won’t be getting his own “Operation”, but rather a unique kind of “Hero Event” that will tell his story through cutscenes and documents found in the game. This is likely to cut down on the amount of work for the character, considering he won’t be playable in the PC or Xbox versions of the title.
Spider-Man comes to Marvel’s Avengers exclusively for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 players on November 30th.
