Hero Initiative To Publish ‘JLA/Avengers’ Limited Edition

by Olly MacNamee

With the news that legendary artist George Perez has been diagnosed with type 3 pancreatic cancer, it didn’t take long for fans to wish for a reprint of the classic out-of-print DC/Marvel crossover, JLA/Avengers. Well, those fans helps have been heard, by Hero Initiative, and they plan to publish a limited edition version this March via Diamond Comic Distributors. But, at only 7000 copies, these will go very quickly, especially at just $29.99.

As well as the miniseries reproduced in full, this edition will feature 64 pages of companion content and will reprint introductions by original Avengers writer/editor Stan Lee and Justice League of America editor Julius Schwartz. A bonus in the Hero Initiative edition is a new afterword by Kurt Busiek, the series’ writer.

George Pérez is a founding member of Hero Initiative’s board of directors and has served as chair of its Disbursement Committee.

Will you be able to get a copy and help a worthy cause in the process? I can’t think of a better way for this Holy Grail of comic books to be reprinted, can you?
