Next week’s trailer was never going to reveal the results of Betty’s pregnancy test, but it does show Miss. Grundy (Sarah Habel) rising from the dead, so there’s that.
Riverdale isn’t a show that slows down very often. On the one hand, it means the show is rarely boring, but it also means a lot of loose threads. Who knew fog was just what the series needed to give characters some time to reconnect?
Trouble is Riverdale could’ve used an episode like this weeks ago, which means some of the conversations fall flat. How is it, for example, that Archie (KJ Apa) and Betty (Lili Reinhart) have gone this long without discussing TBK (Doug Chapman), and why are they suddenly back to not knowing whether they’re dating or not?
It’s hard to know how seriously to take Riverdale, too. Reggie (Charles Melton) and Veronica (Camila Mendes) have a mature break-up this week, but who’s to say they won’t get back together next week? It’s not like the show hasn’t backtracked before.
Other thoughts on this week’s Riverdale:
- So, it turns out Cheryl’s door only made it look like her mom (Nathalie Boltt) was behind bars in last week’s trailer, but if her visit is meant to herald Heather’s return, could that mean Choni is officially done (because at the same time Toni (Vanessa Morgan) and Fangs (Drew Ray Tanner) appear to be having problems)
- Not even Kevin (Casey Cott) and Moose (Cody Kearsley) seemed that into their reunion.
- Archie always gets talked up as Riverdale’s heart, but it’s Jughead (Cole Sprouse) who keeps ending up at the crux of these events
Riverdale airs Sundays on The CW.
