Since Disney and Lucasfilm released concept art for the Obi-Wan Kenobi limited series, it’s been clear Obi-Wan (Ewan McGregor) will fight Darth Vader (Hayden Christensen) in scene that will redefine Star Wars continuity. But since then, the battle has been confined to teases.
The latest example comes courtesy of the new May the 4th trailer for the program (above), which sees the Inquisitors — particularly Inquisitor Reva (Moses Ingram) — scouring the galaxy for the Jedi Master in exile. At one point, a voice even questions the search, which suggests this is a personal project of Vader. Meanwhile, Obi-Wan senses the approaching danger, but cannot convince Owen Lars (Joel Edgerton) that it means Luke will need training. And after some fleeting images of Kumail Nanjiani‘s character, Inquisitors in action, and Obi-Wan using an uncivilized blaster, Vader makes an appearance which seems to place Obi-Wan within his fortress on Mustafar. Although, Disney’s deceptive editing in trailers could be teasing something we will not see.
The six-episode limited series begins streaming May 27th on Disney+.
