‘Ironheart’ Adds Manny Montana
by Erik Amaya
Ironheart‘s cast continues to grow.
Deadline reports Good Girls‘s Manny Montana has joined the Disney+ Marvel series in an undisclosed role. Based on concepts outlined by Brian Michael Bendis and Mike Deodato back in the comics, the program centers on Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne), a tech genius and creator of an armored suit to rival the likes of Iron Man. The character will make her debut in November’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which suggests the series will debut sometime next year. The cast includes Lyric Ross as Williams’s best friend and Anthony Ramos in a role said to be as pivotal as Jonathan Majors‘ debut on Loki. Chinaka Hodge serves as head writer with Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes directing.
The program was announced in late 2020 alongside the third wave of Marvel Studios TV projects, which included Secret Invasion, Armor Wars, I Am Groot, and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. Besides the latter two — which are debuting in the summer and Fall of this year — the wave will make up most of Marvel 2023 output on the platform alongside the second seasons of What If…? and Loki and the debut of Echo. Looking further ahead, the Marvel television roster includes as series centered on Kathryn Hahn‘s Agatha Harkness, a program charting Okoye’s (Danai Gurira) rise in the Dora Milaje, and unspecified programs from Shang-Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton and Black Panther‘s Ryan Coogler, and (of course) a new Daredevil series.
Ironheart is currently in production, but not yet on the Disney+ schedule.
