Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will go out with a bang in a new Netflix original animated film, co-produced by Andy Suriano and Ant Ward, that pits the turtle-gang against the sinister alien Krang. Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie takes the best aesthetics from comic books and underground anime like Dead Leaves and Mind Game and fuses them together in a totally original mutant hybrid. The animation quality is unlike anything I’ve ever seen on TV with several action scenes that left my jaw on the floor. It’s no wonder that the series has gained a passionate fan-following and It’ll be bittersweet to see the show conclude.
I recall during the 2018 NYCC Panel promoting the show, Ant Ward expressed how he hoped that people would remember this incarnation of the turtles as something “fun.” Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has been more than fun. It’s been a blast!
Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie will be streaming on Netflix August 5th.
