Good News From Ty Templeton

Finally, in a world where the bad news is everywhere and frankly, I’m sick of writing obituaries of beloved comic people, here’s some good news from Ty Templeton...
Yep, last year, around Christmas time, when we were doing the Comicon Advent Calendar (which we’ll be doing again this year) we put up a Ty Templeton advent post showing you the wonderful – and wonderfully funny – Christmas comics he’s done, but we also reported the terrible news that he hadn’t been at all well after a diagnosis of stage three colo-rectal cancer back in May 2021.

There’s more to read of that one here – but needless to say it’s all done in Ty’s usual ridiculously funny fashion (never more ridiculous than when you’re giving out this sort of news), he told us how it was inoperable at that time but that he was keeping hopeful that the treatment would work.
If you don’t know who Ty Templeton is – shame on you! – he’s been making comics and being funny for a loooong time. He’s worked on Batman Adventures, the Justice League (back when it was funny), The Simpsons Comics, and then there’s Stig’s Inferno, the funniest comic adaptation (of sorts) of Dante’s The Divine Comedy (and also available to read here.)
He’s also been making these Buntoons cartoons for many years, where Ty’s bunny character talks about whatever it is Ty’s concerned with. Although obviously, there’s not been much posted up over the last couple of years. Just his announcement of the cancer and then… well, let’s let Ty tell you all about it…
Now that sure is great news. And also great news that Mrs Templeton is in remission as well. Wonderful news to put a smile on all our faces. Congratulations Ty and Mrs Ty, hope you have the most wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas this year.
And to everyone else going through cancer treatment right now, good luck to you, keep strong, and keep going. It can be beaten, it will be beaten.
And to everyone, ahead of Christmas, can I suggest this would be a fine year to cut out on the needless spending and the pointless presents that no-one really wants. Instead, maybe think about doing some good this year. Find a cancer charity of your choice and donate.
