‘Local Man’ Announced: Crime, Horror And Classic ’90s Image Comics
by Olly MacNamee
Stray Dogs creator Tony Fleecs (Stray Dogs, Star Wars Adventures) and Tim Seeley (Revival, Hack/Slash) team up for new ongoing series Local Man. A comic that will combine rural crime noir with superhero action coming February 2023 from Image Comics. And in a nod to Image Comics of the past, each issue will be presented as a classic “flip book” format with a lead story drawn by Fleecs and a superhero flashback drawn by Seeley.

“Once the star recruit of the media sensation super-team Third Gen, Jack “Crossjack” Xaver had it all. But when controversy sends him crawling back to his mom and dad’s basement in the Midwest, Jack struggles to fit into a world he left far behind. And then the bodies start piling up.”
Seeley spills more about the book and its inspiration to CBR:
“Local Man is Tony and I teaming up to make a comic book that combines what we love about ’90s superheroes, with our shared affections for crime and horror stories. Part Extreme Studios, part Vertigo Comics. It’s a story about love and loss, and ego, and murder most foul. But it’s also about nostalgia, and promises not fulfilled—with lots of gritted teeth, and epic head punches.”

Fleecs added:
“We wanted to try and make something that captured what we loved about the explosive early Image Comics—while also telling a personal, small town crime story. Sounds cool, right? Cybernetic limbs, telekinetic blasts and pickup trucks.”
