‘Dark’ Creators To Adapt ‘Something Is Killing The Children’ For Netflix
by Erik Amaya
The creators of Dark are re-teaming with Netflix for a pretty nifty comic book adaptation.
Deadline reports Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese — the people behind Dark and 1899 — re-upped their deal with Netflix and will adapt James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera‘s Something Is Killing The Children for the streamer. Published by Boom! Studios, the comic centers on a town where mysterious creatures are hunting and devouring the local children. Their only hope: a young woman with experience in the monsters’ ways and the ability to see them despite being older. She teams with the survivor of an attack to stop the incursion before her agency resorts to more extreme efforts.
Boom! Studios’ Stephen Christy and Ross Richie will serve as executive producers with Tynion and Dell’Edera onboard as co-executive producers.
The duo’s decision to stick with Netflix may be surprising. 1899 was cancelled after one season despite ending on a cliffhanger. Fans fumed, but the streamer carries on trying to find its next Stranger Things-sized hit. As we’re fans of Something Is Killing The Children, we hope this will be the one, but the platform’s metrics for success are inscrutable at this point.
