James Wan To Develop ‘The Good Asian’ For Television

The Good Asian is coming to television.
Deadline reports Aquaman director James Wan will develop the Image comic into a series. Written by Pornsak Pichetshote with art by Alexandre Tefenkgi, the original comic book tells the tale of Edison Hark, a Chinese-American detective seeking a killer in San Franscio’s Chinatown circa 1936. His search brings him face-to-face with many of the issues Chinese-Americans and Chinese immigrants encountered in the period, to say nothing of the preceding decades when the US banned immigration from China. With a strong lead, evocative setting, and subtext for days, it is a natural choice for adaptation.
Michael Clear and Rob Hackett join Wan as producers, as do Will Rowbotham and Luke Maxwell. Principal creative participants have yet to be announced. And as with all newly established projects, it is unclear when or where the program will air. Nevertheless, as big fans of Pichetshote and The Good Asian, we look forward to seeing its story unfold in live action.
