How To Get A Hisuian Zorua In ‘Pokemon Scarlet And Violet’
by Jude Locke
The 2022 switch release, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, recently came out with a handful of exciting announcements. One of these was an additional Pokemon outside of the Paldea dex; Hisuian Zorua.
This regional variant of Zorua was introduced in Pokemon Legend of Arceus and recreates the Gen V dark-type as a Normal|Ghost variant. It exchanges its dark coat to a bright white one with floating locks to give it a more ghostly visage.

Adding this dude to your team of 6 can be a huge gamechanger. Traditionally, ghost type pokemon are weak to ghost moves, and normal-type pokemon are weak to fighting moves; however, normal-type pokemon are not affected by ghost moves, and ghost-type pokemon are not affected by fighting moves, allowing this fox to be the ultimate powerhouse.
So, that leaves one question: How do you get one?
For that, there are a few answers.
Nintendo’s Gift
Currently, until October 31st 2023, you can receive a code for a free Hisuian Zoroark with your pre-order of the upcoming DLC scheduled to be released later this year. You’ll notice I said Zoroark, though. To get your precious baby fox you will need to do a bit more work. A Hisuian Zoroark bred through traditional means will only produce classic Zorua eggs. You’ll need to make sure yours is holding an everstone to achieve its mysterious regional form.
Pokemon Home
Pokemon Home compatibility with Scarlet and Violet has been added as of update 2.11. Do note that currently transferring Pokemon is not supported, but should you have your Hisuian Zorua in Pokemon Home, you should be set in the near future.
Wonder Trade
The final option is Wonder Trade. This is honestly the easiest and cheapest option, if a bit tedious. I was able to get 5 Hisuian Zorua in about 60 trades. With it being recently introduced and readily available the intense urge to shiny breed has taken the community by storm, and for those of us that can’t pre-order at the moment, it means lots of wonder traded foxes to be grabbed.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is currently available on Nintendo’s eshop.
