Paizo And BKOM Studios Meet In A Tavern…

by Anton Kromoff

Welcome to the table,

Two things that have always gone hand in hand are video games and role-playing IPs*. For as long back as I can remember games like Wizardry, The Bards Tale, Tower of Doom, and more have created a single-player experience that served as a fun aside while waiting for the next TTRPG game to come. Feeding quarters into an arcade or watching friends play on their consoles or computers was always a good time and inspired a lot of fun questions that lead to converting the lead sprites and pixels getting homebrewed* into challenges and combatants at the weekly games. Video games just sorta work with TTRPGs. So that’s why this announcement is pretty damn cool.

BKOM Studios, the award-winning developer behind fan-favorite games like Tales from Candlekeep: Tomb of Annihilation, has just announced an epic partnership with Paizo, easily one of the most influential companies in TTRPG world. For those of you who don’t know what Paizo is, they are known for my beloved Dragon and Dungeon magazines. They also published the wonderfully diverse Pathfinder and Starfinder roleplaying games. And right now BKOM Studios and Paizo are set to bring not just one, but two exciting new video games based on the iconic Pathfinder franchise to the market!

While details about the projects are still under wraps (I will bring you more on this as soon as I can), we can expect the first game to launch on Steam later this year. As anticipation builds, CEO of BKOM Studios Frederic Martin expressed his excitement about the collaboration, saying “We are so excited about this collab. We absolutely love role-playing games (lots of us at BKOM are already part of that community) and already were fans of the Pathfinder brand.”

With over 26 years of experience in the industry, BKOM Studios is renowned for creating unique and meaningful gaming experiences on PC and consoles, and their passion for the Pathfinder universe will hopefully come through in their upcoming projects. Mark Moreland, Paizo’s Director of Brand Strategy, shared the enthusiasm, saying “We at Paizo are incredibly excited to be working with BKOM. Their track record is impeccable, and we can’t wait to expand the Pathfinder brand into new digital spaces with them.”

As we all eagerly await more information about these games, it’s clear that BKOM Studios and Paizo are setting up an adventure for us that’s going to deliver an immersive experience for Pathfinder fans and gamers who may be new to the IP alike.

Until next time, keep your dice on hand and I will keep you updated as I learn more as this story develops!
