Privateer Press Sets Sale With The New ‘Brineblood Marauders’
by Anton Kromoff
Welcome to the table,
I knew a guy named Pete. We called him Pete the Tree. He was a tall kid, taller than the rest of the motley crew of gamers and ragamuffins that hung out at the comic shop. He was built in such a way that if you needed to lift up the back of a truck or punch a hill giant, you looked to Pete to take care of business.
Pete was always friendly, always kind, he would pay for his part of the pizza and only eat the crusts if anyone else was hungry or on hard times… he was just the kind of dude you wanted in your corner when things went sideways, and the guy LOVED miniatures.
As people grow and move away they lose touch, but every now and again Pete the Tree and I will find ourselves exchanging messages on one of the various social media platforms. The last long conversation I had with him was about Privateer Press‘s Trolls.
I really liked the way the minis looked and I was super stoked that Pete was into the minis and was able to expand upon the lore in such an exciting way. I feel like Pete The Tree would really like the new all-new army Privateer Press has recently announced.

The Brineblood Marauders, set to be released in July 2023, are a fearsome group of Trollkin pirates with a flavor that is sure to captivate players.

The lore behind the Brineblood Marauders is wrapped in mystery and rich with lore. Hailing from a hidden fortress seaport, these merciless yet merry Trollkin pirates roam the seas seeking both riches and revenge against the nations who they feel have wronged them.
However, they also face the looming threat of new oceanic horrors that are bent on their destruction. This rich narrative sets the stage for epic battles on the tabletop that I am sure Pete would be excited to play out with sound effects and the most riotous of laughter.
The Brineblood Marauders Core Army Starter, which includes all the models needed to play a 50-point game of WARMACHINE, is an impressive set. It features Captain Firequill as the warlock, two customizable warbeasts with various weapon options, animus choices, and upgrades, two full units of Marauder Crew, three unit attachments, Pygmy Boarding Party, a Galley Crew support unit, and Surgeon. With a total of twenty-two unique models, this set promises endless possibilities for strategic gameplay and customization.
I only half understand those terms myself but it all sounds super fun and really impressive. Like, the fact things have cool names like Warlock and Warbeast makes me want to dive into this mini-game even more. Somewhere right now Pete The Tree is bound to be proud.
One notable aspect of the release is the inclusion of stat card information for the Brineblood Marauders in the WARMACHINE app, available for free on the Apple and Google Play app stores. The app also provides complete MKIV rules, a new-player training guide, an army-building feature, list-sharing, and match-play options. Additionally, there is an optional subscription that offers premium content to the app library on a weekly basis. This app is a solid resource for players, providing easy access to game information.

Matthew D. Wilson, creative director and owner of Privateer Press seemed pretty excited about the release, saying, “HORDES players have been waiting a long time to see what we had in store for the warlock-led armies of MKIV. We’re looking forward to rewarding their patience with something that is uniquely Iron Kingdoms and brings that extra dimension to the game that HORDES players love.” This sentiment echoes the anticipation and enthusiasm shared by fans and I am sure Pete The Tree.
In addition to the Brineblood Marauders, WARMACHINE: MKIV has already introduced three other new armies, including the Orgoth Sea Raiders, Cygnar Storm Legion, and Khador Winter Korps, with more expansions planned, such as Dusk House Kallyss.

To further support the MKIV edition, Privateer Press has also shipped Official Organized Play support via the Journeyman Slow-Grow kits, with the Resurrection League set to begin later this spring. These organized play options, coupled with the ongoing narrative campaign available through the WARMACHINE app, promise a dynamic and engaging gaming experience for players.
As a fan of lore, the Brineblood Marauders intrigue me. The laughter of Pete the Tree in the back of my head can’t help but get me excited about the release of this new army. I keep thinking that my old friend is out there somewhere getting things off of the highest shelves, and telling anyone who will listen about the newest army as he excitedly plans to get new paints and make them table ready.
Until next time, be the kindness they will always remember.
