What’s Black And White And Red All Over? ‘Harley Quinn: Black + White + Redder’ Revealed

by Olly MacNamee

What with the long Easter break we have over here in the UK (a FOUR day holiday, folks!) I’ve fallen behind a bit on DC Comics news. Hence the onslaught this morning. But, the announcement of Harley Quinn: Black + White + Redder is the last tidbit, for now. As well as Waid’s two new writing gigs on Superman: The Last Days of Lex Luthor and World’s Finest: Teen Titans, which really cement his triumphant return to DC Comics after years in the wilderness (well, working with practically every other comic book company EXCEPT DC Comics, that is), the return of this anthology title will have DC fans smiling.

In the debut issue we get current Batman scribe, Chip Zdarsky (Batman) and artist Kevin Maguire (Justice League) teaming up to send Harley and Poison Ivy deep into the heart of Superman’s Fortress of Solitude, while Leah Williams (Marvel’s X-TerminatorsAmazing Mary Jane) and artist Natacha Bustos (DC POWER: A Celebration) will deliver a story from Harley’s past, “as a high-flying gymnast with vengeance on her mind!” Plus, actor Paul Scheer (Black Monday, Veep, The League) joins co-writer/producer Nick Giovannetti (Impractical Jokers, Far Cry New Dawn, Marvel’s Cosmic Ghost Rider) and artist Tom Reilly (Marvel’s X-Men: Snapshots, Morbius: Bond of Blood, Thor, The Immortal Hulk) on a story teaming Harley up with Gaggy Gagsworth, The Joker’s original sidekick. “The two are paired up on a heist that’s worth the risk… If they can set aside their vendetta for each other long enough!”
