Cinebook’s May Titles: More Of The Best In Euro Comics

by Richard Bruton

Continuing to look at the best of Euro comics coming from Cinebook, here’s a trio of books for May – three tales of WWII, from the exploits of Buck Danny to friendships torn apart in Bear’s Tooth..

Three books across two titles for May’s Cinebook offering, two volumes of the WWII Buck Danny Classic series and the fourth volume in another WWII series, Bear’s Tooth.

Bear’s Tooth is a fascinating one, a tale of war but far more a tale of friendship. Three children, Max the Polish Jew, Werner and Hanna the Germans, all dream of becoming pilots but their paths will take them far from home. Max becomes a US Navy flyer whilst Hanna is one of Germany’s top test pilots, their paths will cross once more as Max is tasked with a mission to kill Hanna.

Buck Danny is a far more gung-ho thing, created by Georges Troisfontaines, Victor Hubinon and Jean-Michel Charlier for Spirou magazine in 1947, with Francis Bergèse later taking over writing and drawing. These Buck Danny Classics feature the writing of Frédéric Zumbiehl and Frédéric Marniquet and the art of Jean-Michal Arroyo. The Buck Danny saga features aviator Buck Danny and his colleagues from their adventures in WWII’s Pacific campaign to more recent moments in aviation history, covering half a century of American military action.

So, enjoy, cover reveals and Cinebook PR below…
