‘Nimona’ Makes Her On-Screen Debut In New Trailer

Based on the graphic novel by ND Stevenson, Nimona follows a shapeshifter (Chloë Grace Moretz) who joins the villain, Ballister Boldheart (Riz Ahmed), in his plans to destroy the over-controlling Institute. The animated film embraces the cel-shaded mixed media look popularized by films like Spider-Man: Into Spider-Verse and Mitchells vs The Machines. Nimona is also noteworthy for exploring queer themes in a way that’s accessible to all ages. Now that the real world is facing its own over-controlling institutions, it’s great to see a heroine we can root for.
Nimona will be streaming on Netflix June 30.
