‘Intrepid Dusk’ #1 Kickstarter Dawns Soon

Welcome to the table,

I have something playing in the background 90% of the time. In recent years, it has been YouTube video that has at least an hour or longer playtime. Mostly, it’s someone doing a deep dive into the lore of a Bloodborne game or Elden Ring played at just the right volume so as to not be loud enough to distract me from working — but loud enough to drown out the electricity I can hear in the walls. However, an amusing thing happens from time to time when the autoplay feature kicks in and I look up a few hours after I click play on something, and what is on the screen is totally unhinged and utterly fascinating.

A lot of the time my YouTube finds its way to these weird backroom pockets of the site where there are videos of people talking about hidden earth and government psychic experiments and miles and miles of underground tunnels. I often find myself getting distracted from what I am doing to listen to someone talk about the reptile people who live beneath the streets or children who have the ability to see the world around them even when totally blindfolded.

This brings me to something that came across my desk while I was working on a new gaming setting over at Outland Entertainment.

Intrepid Dusk is a new modern-fantasy-meets-science-fiction meets folklore series Kickstarting soon. Created by Jon Gregerson and written by Johnathan Yanez, the story follows Elena, who is involved in a mysterious government experiment allowing her to access past memories while a team of unknown scientists give direction and feedback as they monitor her vitals from a strange sensory suit.

The story begins to take a strange turn as Elena’s memories start to interact with her present consciousness. Then things start to shift from the known world to a strange and magical landscape outside the confines of reality as we understand it.

Issue #1 is drawn and inked by Roberto Viacava with colors by Steve Firchow, and lettering and logo by Shannon Potratz. The first offering into this strange new comic series strikes a solid balance between the known world and this strange other-dimensional space that transitions the story to a place where even though I’m around during development, I’m curious to see what comes next.
