Annecy 2023: ‘Nimona’ Stuns Audiences

During Annecy 2023, co-directors Nick Bruno and Troy Quane and author ND Stevenson sat down to discuss the premiere of Nimona. The Nimona film went through an arduous development process before finally finding a home at Netflix. Nimona faced an uphill battle for including openly queer characters, which is still rare in animated family films. However, the Annecy premiere was met with 15 minutes of applause from the audience. Stevenson expressed the desire to see Queer characters that not only represented queer people but also resonated with all audiences regardless of identity. Judging by the spectacular crowd reaction, Nimona was able to do that and more.
Nimona will be streaming on Netflix June 30.
