Naoki Urasawa’s ‘Pluto’ Anime Get Full Trailer

Naoki Urasawa is known for his ingenious thriller manga including Monster and 20th Century Boys. His manga Pluto is a Neo Noir story that takes place within the world of Astro Boy by Osamu Tezuka. With Pluto we get to see a manga master do his reinterpretation of a story by another manga master. The original Pluto manga made use of social satire during America’s war in Iraq– Now that the world has changed so radically and with emergent concerns about artificial intelligence, it will be interesting to see how Pluto translates to present day.
When a murder occurs in an orderly world where robots are unable to kill humans, the robotic Europol investigator Gesicht takes the case. But the mystery deepens when he finds no trace of a human at the scene of the crime. As he pursues the truth, Gesicht uncovers the most evil manifestation of hate that history ever seen, one that is bent on bringing destruction to the world.
Pluto will be streaming October 26, 2023, on Netflix.
