EA Announces New Studio Cliffhanger Games Is Developing A ‘Black Panther’ Game

by Sage Ashford

Electronic Arts has announced the development of a single-player, third-person Black Panther video game, developed by the newly-established studio, Cliffhanger Games. Cliffhanger Games will be run by Kevin Stephens, the former studio head of Monolith Productions, best known for their work on the Middle-Earth games. However, EA also mentions veterans from other major franchises including Call of Duty and God of War.

Black Panther was rumored in August 2022 by industry insider Jeff Grubb alongside rumors of an Iron Man game.  A few months later, EA confirmed the Iron Man game as coming from EA Motive, the studio responsible for the recently released Dead Space remake.

This marks a continued shift in EA’s business plan, which seems to be significantly more focused on developing single-player games based on popular IPs following the success of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and more recently, Star Wars Jedi Survivor.
