Anthony Carrigan is headed back to the DC Universe.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Gotham and Barry veteran will appear in Superman: Legacy as Metamorpho. First introduced by creators Bob Haney and Ramona Fradon in 1965, Rex Mason became a man composed of shifting elements after encountering a cursed artifact. Initially a parody of the mid-60s’ weird character fad, Metamorpho would eventually help found the Outsiders, join the Justice League, and take on more serious aspects in various self-titled miniseries and guest slots. It is unclear just how writer/director James Gunn will utilize the character, but Carrigan can do comedy and drama quite well.
The actor joins Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, and Edi Gathegi as recently announced cast set to play other heroes in the film. David Corenswet will star as the Man of Steel while Rachel Brosnahan will take on the iconic role of Lois Lane. Fillion will play boorish Green Lantern Guy Gardner with Merced and Gathegi set to play Hawkgirl and Mister Terrific, respectively.
Superman: Legacy is set for release on July 1th, 2025.
