‘Babylon 5: The Complete Series’ Blu-ray Boxset Announced For December

Babylon 5 was the syndicated show that could. It survived some of its ideas being “appropriated” by another show, it took its licks as it waited a year from the airing of its pilot to go to series, and it even survived moving to a cable channel when the distribution system handling its syndication run folded.
And it has a devoted following. So much so, in fact, that Warner Bros. Home Entertainment announced Tuesday that it will finally release the complete series on Blu-ray this winter.
Babylon 5: The Complete Series features all 110 episodes of the groundbreaking science fiction series created by J. Michael Straczynski and the pilot movie, Babylon 5: The Gathering. The subsequent TV movies made for TNT and the short-lived spinoff, Crusade, will have to wait for another set. Starring Bruce Boxleitner, Michael O’Hare, Claudia Christian, Jerry Doyle, Mira Furlan, Richard Biggs, Bill Mumy, Andreas Katsulas, and Peter Jurasik, it told the tale of a group of humans and aliens living aboard a space station as titanic shifts in the galaxy culminate around them. Ancient forces, conspiracies, and personal failings abound, but the tale reveals that there are always second chances and, sometimes, people make good on them.
If it isn’t clear, we’re definitely fans.
At present, it is unknown if the special features from the DVD releases will carry over, but once we know more, we’ll pass that info along. But even without older bonus features, Babylon 5 on Blu-ray is special all on its own.
Babylon 5: The Complete Series is scheduled for release on December 5th.
