‘Xbox Live Gold’ Being Replaced By’Xbox Game Pass Core’

After twenty years, Xbox is transforming its Xbox Live Gold service into Xbox Game Pass Core. Announced by Xbox Wire, the move comes as the next step in the evolution of Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass service which has become the centerpiece of their gaming plan.
With Xbox Game Pass Core, console gamers will continue to have access to Xbox’s multiplayer network, but the Games with Gold service is being discontinued. Instead, subscribers will have access to a service of over 25 games from Xbox Game Studios, Bethesda, and third-party developers to play on their Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S consoles.
The launch line-up consists of: Among Us, Descenders, Dishonored 2, Doom Eternal, Fable Anniversary, Fallout 4, Fallout 76, Forza Horizon 4, Gears 5, Grounded, Halo 5: Guardians, Halo Wars 2, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, Human Fall Flat, Inside, Ori & The Will of the Wisps, Psychonauts 2, State of Decay 2, The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited.
Rather than getting new games every month, new games will be added 2-3 times per year. Xbox Game Pass Core will be available on PC for $9.99/mo, while console players will have it for $10.99/mo. Xbox Live Gold owners will automatically be switched to Xbox Game Pass Core when the service launches on September 14th. However, players will still be able to access Games with Gold titles so long as they remain a subscriber to Game Pass Core.
