During San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel took the stage with their “Next Big Thing” panel. In attendance were Nick Lowe, Jackson Lanzing, Colin Kelly, Gerry Duggan, Sabir Prizda, Zeb Wells, Sarah Brunstad, Jordan D. White, and C.B. Cebulski.

The different creators each had a featured portion of the panel. Duggan shared that in X-Men #29, the team would go to Latveria and clash with mutants that Dr. Doom has taken under his wing. We also received a sneak peek at the cover of Uncanny Avengers #4 by Javier Garrón set to be released this November (far right).

We also saw the cover to Emilio Laiso’s Guardians of the Galaxy #8, which is written by Kelly and Lanzing. You’ll notice the wood versions of the team.

The writing duo are also on the new Thunderbolts series. Don’t expect their version to be a team book. In each issue, Bucky calls in two familiar characters to aid him on his mission. The alternate cover of Thunderbolts #1 debuted with art from Terry Dodson. Is that a dead Red Skull?!

One last project from Kelly and Lanzing is the newly announced Timeless #1. Juann Cabal provides the interior art with Kael Ngu on the cover. We’ll see the Immortal Moon Knight take an even more enhanced version of Luke Cage’s Power Man.

There is much conversation surrounding the upcoming Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant, which will be co-written by the star of the Disney+ series, Iman Vellani. Prizda will be her co-writer, and he discussed how the superhero will be going undercover at Empire State University. We also received first looks at the covers of issues two and three by Sara Pichelli, one of which depicts Kamala in the Danger Room.

Wells is the current writer of Amazing Spider-Man. Fans of Ed McGuinness will be happy to see his return for issues #37 and #38.
