Judge, Chief Judge, a death sentence through an incurable virus, a faked death, and a return to confront the ghosts of her past. That’s been Barbara Hershey’s life.
And now, it’s all coming to a head in the pages of 2000 AD and ‘The Cold In The Bones‘.
Created by John Wagner and Brian Bolland in 1980, Hershey has been a mainstay of Judge Dredd’s world ever since – a street Judge who attained the city’s highest position, a friend and foe to Dredd, and someone whose lifetime of service is ending with a tale of revenge and retribution. During her tenure as Chief Judge, she was responsible for giving Judge Smiley the means to do great wrong, culminating right her with the end to her story, the end to Enceladus, and a race to deal with an alien outbreak that threatens Mega-City One.
Hershey’s recent saga has seen her travel the globe in The Cold In The Bones has seen her travel the globe to deal with the threats unleashed by Smiley’s clandestine operations, threats that are coming home to MC-1 now.
Her past and uncertain future fuse together in the third and final book of Rob Williams, Simon Fraser, and Simon Bowland’s Hershey: The Cold In The Bones, due to conclude in 2000 AD Prog 2349, out on Wednesday 13th September.
