‘Harley Quinn’ Season 4, Episode 10 Review — Reunited And It Feels So Good

The trajectory for this season of Harley Quinn has been an interesting one. It was clear from the beginning of the season that Harley (Kaley Cuoco) and Poison Ivy (Lake Bell) were going to have different paths that they tried to make work with their relationship. There were certainly some struggles, but not nearly as much as fans were probably expecting. And as the finale came to a close, it was interesting to see that what those differences did to their their long-term commitment.

In the end, it didn’t drive them further apart. Instead, Harley and Ivy realized these differences weren’t that important, which brought them back together. It was almost as if this season didn’t matter as it returned them to their status quo.
The episode starts in a surprisingly somber place, though. Ivy’s victory over Lex Luthor (Giancarlo Esposito) feels bittersweet when everyone decides to attend his birthday party on the moon. Meanwhile, Harley is mad at Joker (Alan Tudyk) for shooting Batgirl (Briana Cuoco) and paralyzing her. Wanting to support Ivy, the two of them head to Lex’s birthday party, where he is being welcomed as if he wasn’t ousted from his company. Harley discovers that he actually has Superman (James Wolk) captive while Lex unveils his new super suit for everyone. Harley and Ivy fail to defeat him in a fight, but they manage to use his laser to blast the headquarters of a lot of the corporate CEOs who betrayed Ivy. The finale ends as Nightwing (Harvey Guillén) is resurrected in the Lazarus Pit.
After a lot of ups and downs while being separated, it was nice to see Harley and Ivy reunited in conflict with a common enemy. It’s both surprising and unsurprising that Lex Luthor would be the main villain at the end of the season. Ivy bumped heads with him often throughout the previous episodes, but he was more or less defeated. For him to come back as a powerhouse that Ivy and Harley would have to team up against is pretty interesting. It solidified their reunion and put them back on track to form a new group next season.
