Fred Van Lente To Compile ‘Jennifer Blood: Battle Diary’

Jennifer Blood is returning with a decidedly brutal journal entry.

Dynamite announced Thursday the upcoming Jennifer Blood series Jennifer Blood: Battle Diary. From writer Fred Van Lente and artist Robert Carey, the story picks up from “Bloodlines” as Jennifer — back from the grave — sets her sights vicious Neo-Nazi prison gangs. It all begins when she visits the grave of her mother, the original Jennifer Blood, at a penitentiary when she is targeted herself by rival white supremacist groups. The opportunity for false alliances and a lot of dead bodies is too much for her to resist.

“She’s a vigilante who cares more about killing any criminal she happens to come across than her own life,” Van Lente said in a statement. “As a character she’s a live hand grenade you just lob in the middle of any situation and it instantly becomes dramatic. It’s hard not to get the blood pumping when you have such a limitless possibility of stories like that. I’m just thrilled the readers are responding too, and keep us coming back out for encores. What’s not to love?”

Supporting the first issue are variant covers from Joseph Michael Linsner, Lesley “Leirix” Li, and Rebeca Puebla. Additionally, the first issue coincides with the release of the Jennifer Blood: Blood Debt collected editions.
