‘Legenderry Red Sonja’ Returns In A One-Shot From Katana Collins

The steampunk Sonja returns for a special one-shot.

Legenderry Red Sonja hails from a reality of steam, gears, and guns. And as seen in Legenderry, she is as well-versed with firearms as she is with a sword. Her skills will be put to the test this December when Dynamite unveils a Legenderry Red Sonja one-shot. Writer Katana Collins takes the reins for the story while Kewber Baal joins her on art.

This time, Sonja is still a pirate aboard her ship, the Nautilus. But a little art theft leads her on a collision course with an infamous painting and its equally infamous — and un-aging — owner. Will she abscond with the portrait? Or will it be six-guns a’blazin’ before all is said and done?

“To date, this is one of my favorite stories and characters I’ve ever written!,” Collins said in a statement. “As soon as this project was in discussion, all I needed to hear was ‘steampunk Red Sonja’ and I was all in. And in true steampunk style, we have one hell of a cameo within the story.”

Covers supporting the one-shot come from the likes of Corin M. Howell, cosplayer Shannon Kingston, and Sean Gordon Murphy, who added, “In my entire career, I’ve never drawn Red Sonja until now … I loved getting to do something a little outside the norm for me and tweaking her original look to combine it with the steampunk elements in Legenderry’s version in an empowering way.”

Legenderry Red Sonja makes its way to comic shops in December.
