Super7 Offers Glow-In-The-Dark Ghoul Figures Just In Time For The Holidays
by Anton Kromoff
Welcome to the table,
It’s that time of year again. I’m all cuddled up with a warm drink under a jack-o-lantern blanket with a classic on the TV. As I put fingers to keys in celebratory delight of this wonderful holiday season, a young Alec Baldwin makes a Big Foot joke before saying “Anyhow, we’ve gotta get some help here. We’ve gotta contact this guy, Betelmeyer, or something.”
Nostalgia is strong with me for this movie. I was younger than ten when I saw it the first time on one of those TVs they pull into a daycare classroom and sit in front of a bunch of kids they don’t want to think about for an hour or so. I was probably too young but the over the over-the-top horror and stylized flair of Tim Burton‘s maybe best movie Beetlejuice has that delightful childhood vibe to it. It’s also got Batman. He’s Batman in my book, and I won’t take questions.
So when nostalgia, comics, and horror cross over in the best of ways, my mind drifts to those pre-comic-code horror books that were apparently corrupting the youth. As a kid who was sat in front of Beetlejuice by religious leaders who never bothered to watch the movie, clearly the issue was the comics. Let’s not dig into those big-brain questions though, we are warm, we are cozy, let’s talk about some “nice f#cking models!” If you get that reference we might be able to be friends.
