Joy Toy Figure’s ‘Lion El‘Jonson’ Comes With Watchers In The Dark

A large part of the positive memories of my childhood come from hanging out in the back of a comic shop, watching elder-nerds play Warhammer and Warhammer 40k. I never imagined I would have the money needed to afford the armies of miniatures these players were fielding, but that mattered little to me at the time, because as a spectator these huge games of brilliant pained figures classing on foam and plastic landscapes were wondrous to behold.

Aside from the sportsmanship of watching the players play, I also got to learn about the various armies, primarchs, and chaos gods that made up the lore of the Warhammer 40k universe. One of my favorites is Lion El’Jonson, because of his striking emerald armor, his leadership of the Dark Angels, and his time with The Watchers in The Dark.

JoyToyFigure is dropping some seriously fantastic figures based on the beloved 40k characters. This Lion El’Jonson figure is so detailed that it’s almost startling when you look at it closely. It really captures the stern look and determined demeanor of Lion El’Johnson after he awoke in the strange far realm known as Mirror-Caliban in free of his memories after millennia of sleeping that followed the original Caliban’s destruction.

As the lore goes, Lion El’Jonson encountered the old king on the river, whose waters played a song that he could hear. It was there that Lion was approached by a Watcher in the Dark and when he asked it where they were the small cloaked figure simply replied “Home.”

Lion would go on to learn of the shadows who dwelled near the king and find the stench of corruption that would lead him to encounter the Fallen Angel Zabriel, returning Lion’s memories to him and allowing him to regain his sense of purpose.  After a time Lion would go on to form a warband of loyalist fallen known as The Risen and continue his tireless fight against the forces of Chaos.
